Town featuresCar hire is available from Kayseri airport or from Urgup. Small motor bikes can also be hired from the larger towns.

| Markets: There are two large markets in Urgup every Saturday - one for masses of wonderful, fresh produce, the other for almost everything else. Ortahisar has a smaller market on Sundays, within easy walking distance of the self catering holiday house. |
| Public transport: From Ortahisar you can catch taxis or small buses (called Dolmus, and pronounced Dolmush) to Goreme, Urgup or Avanos. From these towns, buses will take you to any destination in Turkey. A service bus will collect you from Ortahisar if you want to go to the airport. The nearest airport is in Kayseri - 45 minutes from Ortahisar. |

| Sites: Sites to be visited are too numerous to be described. You will, without effort, be on a constant voyage of discovery. Only metres from the front gate is the beginning of a walking track which can take you as far as Urgup and Ibrahim Pasa. |
| Highly recommended is a visit to the hot mineral baths at Bayram Hacili, about a half an hour drive from Avanos - wonderfully rejuvenating! It is quite an experience in the winter time to luxuriate in the hot steaming pools, surrounded by snow! |
